Flora Farms - Heirloom Gardening & Epicurean Cooking Class

Most people think of Cabo as a desert/beach destination, so they are surprised and amazed when we stop at a beautiful farm in the middle of an unexpected paradise.

Flora Farm is a ten-acre organic farm in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. For more than 10 years they have been farming without the use of pesticides or genetically modified seeds.  Guests are greeted on the lawn with fresh Jamaica water and lemonade. After settling in, cooking students begin an easy walk around the renowned Flora Organic Farm.  Depending on the season, students are encouraged to pick produce that will later be used to make authentic salsas and part of their lunch menu.  After returning to the unique outdoor kitchen, students "apron up" and begin to cook!  Class focus is on regional cuisine - local salsas that are made by hand in a stone "molcajete", as well as other salsas that are unique to our area.  Students are also taught the art of tortilla making, with the traditional Mexican tortilla press.  Classes get to sample as they cook with our fresh homemade tortilla chips.

Students then sit down to enjoy the salsas and tortillas they have prepared with a delicious lunch on one of our beautiful garden patios before heading back to the hotel.  Everyone gets a copy of Gloria's recipes in a nice hand bound presentation to take back as a remembrance.

Sample Salsa Recipes & Lunch Menu
Group will prepare salsa "tatemada", regional salsa, rosemary guacamole, charred habanero guacamole, and corn tortillas from scratch.
Lunch menu includes Baja fish tacos, cilantro rice, black beans, seasonal salad, coleslaw, and key lime pie.

Baja Flavors Shopping & SJD Art District Tour

Board first-class transportation to San Jose de Cabo where you will have a chance to learn about the history of the destination, certain crafts that are indigenous to Mexico and the local area with time to explore/shop on your own.  San Jose del Cabo is ideal for relaxed shopping.  A beautiful small town still reminiscent of old world Mexico.  

Visit the areas around Mijares and Zaragoza Boulevards for some excellent shopping opportunities. The town has an eclectic selection of family-owned shops and hip boutiques, along art galleries housing wonderful collections by local artists.  Most shops offer a collection of folk art, cotton blankets, hand blown glass, Talavera ceramics, Mexican pewter, leather products, textiles and wooden carvings. Silver stores abound on every corner with a wide variety to select from.  If you like to barter there is an opportunity for that as well in one of the many markets in the town center.

Whale Watching Cabo Photo Safari

Every year from mid-December to early April Cabo San Lucas is host to some of the most amazing creatures on the earth Humpbacks, Grays, Blues and Sperm Whales. Observe and learn about these magnificent sea mammals while aboard a pax zodiac boat. 

When it comes to whale watching, Cabo San Lucas is a worldwide hotspot. That's because the waters surrounding Cabo are breeding areas and migratory stops for whales in the Pacific Ocean.To help you get as close to these magnificent creatures as possible and take pictures to memorialize the moment, on this one-of-a-kind Cabo whale watching tour. Witness the awe-inspiring enormity and grace of humpbacks as big as 40–50 feet long (12–16 meters) up-close in their natural environment from our specialized, inflatable boats. In our Cabo whale watching excursion, feel the rush of seeing humpback whales shoot out of the ocean depths, launching high into the air and returning to the sea amidst a colossal splash!
